The 72 Melakarta Ragas are the foundational parent scales of Carnatic music. They are complete (Sampurna) heptatonic scales containing all 7 swaras ($S, R, G, M, P, D, N$) in both ascending (Arohana) and descending (Avarohana) order with identical swara variants. They are organized into 12 Chakras of 6 ragas each.
Yes! We welcome students of all age groups and skill levels. Beginners start with basic Swara exercises (Sarali Varisai, Jantai Varisai, Alankaras) before progressing to Varnas and Raga compositions.
